Abstract
Maternal, fetal, social & cultural factors contribute to the rising cesarian section (CS) rates. Uterine niche is observed in 24% – 84% of women submitted to CS. This presentation provides a definition and classification of the uterine niche, and summarizes the niche-associated symptoms and long-term consequences. Transvaginal ultrasound and contrast-enhanced transvaginal ultrasound (if intracavitary fluid is not present) are currently consider the most appropriate diagnostic tools. The standard ultrasound method for evaluating the uterine niche is presented in this video.
