On February 7th – 9th, 2014, The International Advanced Suturing for Laparoscopy Workshop was held in Jakarta, Indonesia for the second time. It was presented by Indonesian Gynecological Endoscopy Society (IGES) and Indonesian Society of Obstetric Gynecology (ISOG) Task Force of Endoscopy collaborating with International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy (ISGE).
Unlike the first workshop, we move the venue of the workshop to Lumire Hotel which more in the central area compare the last year venue. It supposes to save all the speaker, committee and participant from the heavy traffic. The first and second day, was filled with lecture presentations, video showing and dry lab, which all participant were enthusiastly practice hands on under direct guidance from the four ISGE world wellknown speakers and also ten of IGES best local instructors. Like last year we are still collaborating with Bogor Agricultural Institute at Darmaga Bogor for the hands on animal wet lab. So we spent the third day whole day in there. This workshop was supported exclusively by Storz and fully back up by their Indonesian exclusive distributor : the AMC company, which provided us with nine full HD towers and one SPICE tower that used through out the workshop.
The total participant of the workshop are 40 Obstetrican Gynecology who has some experience in laparoscopy surgeries. They came from 20 provinces in Indonesia. We were helped by four international training faculties, Prof. Dr. Prashant Mangeshikar (India), Prof. Dr. Bhaskar D. Goolab (South Africa), Dr. Ornella Sizzi (Italy), and Dr. Alfonso Rossetti (Italy). They were also backup by 10 IGES local instructors. They were sharing their knowledges, and also practical tips and tricks of laparoscopic suturing skills in three days. Comprehensive laparoscopic suturing skill and knowledge has been discussed and directly shown and practiced by the participants. Not only about suturing, wide range discussion about safe entry, complication, myomectomy, and hysterectomy was also discussed. Both participants and the faculties felt that this workshop has tremendous impact on developing new area of gynecology endoscopic especially in Laparoscopic Suturing in Indonesia.
